Sidharth Malhotra isn't giving marriage any thought yet
Sidharth Malhotra has come a long way from his debut, Student of the Year. Five years into the industry, Sidharth maintains that he is just as grounded as he entered this space. Now, he even has plans of getting into his own production house. We throw a volley of questions on his career, actors, and being a gentleman among other things.
If the tag line of his forthcoming film, A Gentleman, were to be changed to Sunder, Sushil and Sexy, what would be his take?
Who wouldn’t feel great with that tagline? I would obviously like it if people addressed me like that? I would give all my love back to all those girls who would want to use this tagline for me.
Are your Punjabi parents keen on getting you married?
No. Marriage is not on my mind; I would prefer working on my career. I am of the opinion that marriage can happen in your late 30’s as well. It is too early for me to get married now. I am single and not keen into getting into any sort of commitment right now.
I have purchased a new house but I haven’t shifted as yet. Once I shift, I will bring my mother here. I am in no hurry to get married and have children at this juncture in my life. It’s time for me to eat and make merry.
You seem to be too reclusive on social media. Why?
I would not say I am reclusive. There needs to be something worthwhile about my personality for me to update something. I don’t force myself to post something on it. There’s nothing right now in my personal life too, that I can post it on social media.
How do you take your flops? Your latest flick Baar Baar Dekho miserably flopped at the B.O…
If a film doesn’t work at the box office, I definitely feel bad. But it is not in my control. Kapoor and Sons was accepted by people. I think I have learned a lot after being in this industry. I do understand business now.
Will you get into production in you near future?
Yes! I would love to produce films in my near future. From the time I started assisting, it has been a great learning experience to me in terms of filmmaking from the scripting level to other nuances’ of filmmaking. I will take a plunge in producing films with my own production house. Undeniably, this will take some more time though. I would definitely love to act in at as well.
How do you handle stardom?
I think a lot of things have changed ever since I started out as an assistant director. This industry was new for me. I was unaware of how it worked. But over the years, I have made friends. Having friends definitely helps a lot.
When you work with known friends, your chemistry effectively translates on screen. I have turned more confident now. I am pretty excited about the future. I take change positively. Looking back when I came to Mumbai started modelling and then worked as an assistant director, the journey has been good enough.
Lastly, what’s your relationship status?
I am single. It’s time for me to enjoy. I still live with my dog!
