How do I look at the accident? As a warning from God that nothing in life must be taken for granted.

Gulshan Devaiah, last seen in Konkona Sen Sharma’s directorial debut A Death in the Gunj, has been through proverbial hell and back. An accident earlier this year turned him pretty much immobile for months.

Says Gulshan, “I had a skiing accident in February, earlier this year, while on my winter holidays. I fell on the slopes of Gulmarg — a beautiful place to even get hurt! I shattered my knee ligaments in multiple placed, and needed surgery to fix it.”

The healing process, understandably, was slow and painful. “I’m still only 90 per cent there. I will need two more months to be able to run fast, jump, or play active sports normally. It has been a painful process of healing and realisation for me,” he sighs.

The accident has put Gulshan’s career back by many steps. However, instead of crying over spilt milk, the young actor is immersed in the process of making renewed headway. He says, “I’m back in the studios. I’m doing a new film, produced by Ronnie Screwvala. It’s going to be an action-comedy, directed by Vasan Bala. How do I look at the accident? As a warning from God that nothing in life must be taken for granted. Now, I’m determined to work harder than ever to regain lost ground.”
