Ravi Udyawar’s next after Mom

Director Ravi Udyawar made his debut with the Sridevi starrer Mom, which was received well not just by critics but by cinemagoers as well, and now the director is set to make another film.

However, it seems a mere coincidence that Excel Entertainment locked him to direct his second film for them around Sridevi’s first death anniversary. Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani wanted to work with the director after Mom and they were floored by an idea, which they discussed with the ad executive turned director.

“Ravi’s significant work in the early days was the lovely Silk Route music video Dooba Dooba from the Boondein album. There has been no question about his ability. But in Bollywood, everyone wants to see proof of the pudding and with a film like Mom, Ravi has proved himself. Excel too is happy with the results given by Gully Boy, which is slowly but steadily moving towards being the third `100 crore film of 2019,” says a source in the trade.
