RK studio's last visarjan
As the Kapoor family and the staff of RK Studios bid farewell to their Ganpati Bappa this Sunday, they knew that their calls of “Pudchya varshi lavkar ya” (Come back soon next year) would go unheard. With the film studio scheduled to be sold soon, they knew that the visarjan would be their last.
The occasion saw Ranbir Kapoor standing in for his father Rishi and participating in the festivities alongside his uncles Randhir and Rajeev. It was earlier believed that Randhir’s daughters Karisma and Kareena would also attend the last visarjan, but they were nowhere to be seen.
Members of the staff say it’s not a surprise that the Kapoor women couldn’t make it. One of them points out, “Earlier, even actors and actresses could dance and make merry during the Ganesh visarjan. But these days, with so many selfie-obsessed people, media persons and cops around, actresses don’t feel safe in the crowd. Surely you cannot expect them to come with their security guards and add to the madness.”
