A reserved but magical figure on screen: Subhash Ghai
Mumbai: Terming Sridevi as a thorough professional, filmmaker Subhash Ghai remembered the Lamhe actor who earned the title of 'superstar' in Bollywood and attributed her phenomenal rise to her disciplined approach towards life and work.
While speaking about his experience with Sridevi on the sets of the film Karma, Ghai spoke about her dedication and talent.
“Sridevi worked with me in Karma (1985). She was a quiet woman with a bundle of talent. She was a pure magical screen actor in India. We can never get another Sridevi again on screen. I am deeply grieved for this shocking loss. She was the finest actor of Indian cinema since 1985,” Ghai said.
Commenting on the quiet nature of the actor, Ghai who is known to be very jocular said that though Sridevi was very reserved, she used to undergo a complete change when in front of the camera. “She was an introvert by nature, but she was electricity with thunder in front of the camera. She would shock directors by her each shot taken on her on the sets. Be it dance, drama or romance. She was the uncrowned queen of acting in all languages in her times,” he said.
Ghai said, “I knew her as a person for being my friend Boney's wife. She was a dedicated homemaker, a wonderful mother and perfect host.”
