Akshay Kumar targets Independence Day release
Akshay Kumar’s last release Pad Man caused some social upheaval by touching upon the otherwise-taboo topic of menstrual hygiene. Despite large-scale promotions, though, it didn’t end up doing as well at the box-office as Toilet – Ek Prem Katha.
Now, he’s gearing up for his next, Gold, targeting an August 15 release. It was widely believed that the film directed by Reema Kagti would have to be postponed due to pending graphics work, but the actor is determined to have the film meet its current release date.
“Akshay and Twinkle have had a meeting with Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and the team at Excel to ensure that the film meets the deadline. Akshay knows that his other film, 2.0 with Rajinikanth, has been delayed, and he doesn’t want to lose out on the Independence Day fever. He likes having one film release on Republic Day and one on Independence Day every year,” a source reveals.
Let’s hope the film strikes gold at the box office.
