Shah Rukh Khan's digital project not a web series but a film
Shah Rukh Khan’s acting plans in the lead role may not be on course but the actor has confirmed to appear in an extended cameo in Mental Hai Kya, a crime-thriller film starring Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao.
The actor, who also runs his production house Red Chillies Entertainment, is going beyond the first show that he has planned for Netflix titled Bard of Blood starring Emraan Hashmi and Kirti Kulhari and has also signed up to do a project on the class of ‘83. Well, this is not a world cup winning film but a team of sharpshooters and encounter specialists trained by the Mumbai cops to handle terrorism and the underworld in 1983.
“From what we have heard, it is not going to be a web series but a film made exclusively for Netflix Originals. It is going to be mounted like a period drama in 1983 with multiple references to happening around that era. This is the time when Vasantdada Patil was the chief minister of Maharashtra and the references will all be around that time. There will be a reference to the ’83 world cup as well during one of the sequences,” says a trade source.
Atul Sabharwal who directed Aurangzeb starring Arjun Kapoor for Yash Raj Films is expected to direct the film that is being mounted on a huge scale. SRK is also collaborating with Sunir Khetrpal for Azure Entertainment for a film called Operation Khukhri but not much is known of his involvement as an actor in the film. SRK is co-producing Badla with Khetrpal.
