A series on The Men Who Killed Gandhi
After 13 years of research, Rajesh Mapuskar, who was then an associate director to Rajkumar Hirani on the making of Lage Raho Munna Bhai, is ready with his story The Men Who Killed Gandhi, which will roll out as a web series.
Writer-director of acclaimed Marathi language film Ventilator, Rajesh acquired the rights of the Manohar Malgonkar’s book of the same title two years ago.
“The book is a very riveting tale but Rajesh has also done his own research on the subject. He got the idea when he was working on Lage Raho Munna Bhai which had Bapu and his ‘gandhigiri’ as the subject. It intrigued him to want to make a film on the subject. But, since it is a very long story, he had not been able to make it into a film. With the web platforms allowing people to tell stories over several hours, Mapuskar is now directing it as the series for Abundantia Entertainment, which is also bankrolling Akshay Kumar’s show The End on Amazon,” informs a source close to the development.
