Kaala Karikalan to be pushed again?

With the film set to hit theatres on June 7, the release date of Kaala Karikalan is not even two weeks away. But, the film’s lead actor, Rajinikanth, wants the release date to be postponed not just because of the Sterlite protests, but because he also feels that the film has not been publicised enough.

Sources inform us that the film will now release on June 22 or on July 6. “The Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council, headed by Vishal, will have to have the final say in the date as they have been allotting dates for all films that have been pushed behind due to the strike. Rajini sir is keen that the film be promoted properly and that there is more buzz around the film,” say our sources. Unlike his earlier films, Rajinikanth’s last three releases, Kabali, Lingaa, and Kochadaiyaan have failed to do wonders at the box office, putting a question mark on his box office pull. This is probably why he doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned in his efforts to promote Kaala.
