Angry young Ayushmann Khurrana's teaser launch
Be it Badhai Ho, Vicky Donor or Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Ayushmann Khurrana has mostly portrayed light-hearted roles on screen. For the first time, the actor will be seen playing an angry young man in Anubhav Sinha directorial Article 15, the teaser of which released yesterday.
Article 15 is the story of a boy raised in the city who goes on to work in a rural set up in Uttar Pradesh and finds himself handling the case of three missing girls. “Article 15 of the Indian constitution prohibits anyone from being outcasted and discriminated on the basis of religion, caste, creed, race, sex or place of birth. The film deals with the issues plaguing rural India even today and how a cop is surprised at the disparity and tries to bring sanity and peace in the area,” says a trade source.
Barring the Sriram Raghavan directorial thriller Andhadhun, Ayushmann has only played light-hearted roles in social dramas and this would be his first serious and angry character as well. “He has done a fabulous job on the film and the teaser looks awesome,” adds the source.
Article 15, which also stars Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, will premiere at the London Indian Film Festival in the last week of June.
