David Dhawan quashes Varun's wedding rumours

Jokes apart, the director clarifies that Varun is busy shooting and hence, has no plans of getting hitched this year.

It isn’t easy being David Dhawan these days. He not only has to get set to direct another purported blockbuster with his son Varun in the lead, but also has to dodge answers about Varun’s personal life.

However, when we finally tracked him down to confirm ‘source’ reports stating that Varun was to get married this December, David laughs loudly. “I am in Baku, Azerbaijan. I am here location-hunting. So I’ve been pretty much out of the Mumbai gossip network.”

When informed about the reports of a destination wedding in Goa, he laughs and says, “They (media) have decided the venue, the month. Abb date bhi wohi decide kar len (now let them decide the date as well). So I can be there on the date decided by them for my son’s wedding,” he says with a hint of sarcasm.

Jokes apart, the director clarifies that Varun is busy shooting and hence, has no plans of getting hitched this year. “This news is absolutely bogus. No truth in it at all. My son is shooting for Remo D’Souza’s film. Then he starts shooting for my film. There is no question of a wedding this year. If it happens, it will happen next year, not before that,” says David firmly.

“I would like to see him get married. But you think he will listen to me? He can come anytime and announce he’s getting married. My wife and I have to get up and start preparing,” he adds.

However, David has some advice to offer for the speculative, gossipy media. “Please stop writing about people’s weddings with venues and dates manufactured on your desks. A wedding is a very important part of anyone’s life. It can’t be treated as a source of entertainment. This is my humble request,” he said.
