Dharmendra wants to picturise his poems
People who know Dharmendra since ages know of his love for the Urdu language and passion for poetry writing. Like Gulzar, Dharmendra too was close to Meena Kumari, and they shared their liking for poetic verse.
“I have been writing poetry for a very long time, and I enjoy what I write. A lot of people around me have loved the poems and have been asking me to try and publish them, but I have been avoiding that. Mujhe shayari se mohabbat chahiye, shohrat nahin. (I need love from my poems, not fame). Fame will go away, but the love will remain forever,” says the actor.
But then Dharmendra has other ideas for his poems. “I want to get my poems picturised. I think they must be converted into visuals so people can enjoy the poetry a lot more. I want people to know what I was feeling when I wrote those verses. That cannot happen in a book,” he says, hinting that they could perhaps take the shape of a music video.“I have been writing poetry since I was a young lad and wrote one about this girl two years my senior in school,” he reminisces.
