Aamir Khan turns to ping-pong for Laal Singh Chadda
There isn’t any doubt that Aamir Khan is one of the most athletic actors in Bollywood. The 55-year-old showed his affinity towards sports through his critically acclaimed film Dangal, in which the actor’s dedication towards the role of a wrestler, earned him accolades.
Now, the actor’s next Laal Singh Chaddha, which is a remake of Forrest Gump, will have the sport table tennis featured in it. In fact, the Tom Hanks-starrer also featured the character playing the sport in the film.
The next schedule of Laal Singh Chaddha is being planned post the pandemic, and male Sikh actors in the age group of 35-40 years, who are physically fit and know how to play table tennis, will be auditioned next by Mukesh Chhabra’s team.
“It is an indoor schedule and hence can be controlled easily. Aamir has also played table tennis. In fact, he even featured in a TV commercial to promote the Ultimate Table Tennis Challenge. In the ad, he is even seen saying that he has done a lot of films on sports and one does not look the character if he cannot play the sport,” says an industry source.
Adding further, he says, “Aamir has also been seen attending many table tennis tournaments in the past and has also been playing the sport at the gymkhana where he is a member.”
It can be recalled that Aamir played a cricketer in films like Awwal Number and Lagaan, a wrestler in Dangal, a cyclist in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and a street-side boxer in Ghulam.
The actor was playing state level tennis before he decided to become an actor, and is also good at playing squash.
Directed by Advait Chandan, the film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role.
