I will always give credit to the directors: Varun Dhawan

The actor also reveals that he was stumped by Sriram Raghavan's decision to cast him in Badlapur.

Actor Varun Dhawan, who has done commercial films and also experimented with parallel cinema, credits his diverse choice of films to the directors.

Varun Dhawan says, “All my choices have been very instinct. I will always give credit to the directors because it is the director’s medium. All the directors were hungry to prove a point, to give a message through their films. I could see that in their eyes, when they were narrating the subject. I could see it.”

The actor also reveals that he was stumped by Sriram Raghavan’s decision to cast him in Badlapur. He says, “I still don’t know why Sriram took me to play a 40-year-old man and I will never understand that. Why would someone take me after Student Of The Year and Main Tera Hero. I don’t know what he saw in me.”

While most new actors are scared before the release of their first film, Varun has a different story to share. “I didn’t have any tension with my first film. I knew whatever the crisis would be, Karan would have to face it. Karan is the first director to have danced and sung during the promotions; he did everything that was in his power. So, we knew this one was his and he’d had to drive the film,” says Varun. “I felt more stressed when I did Main Tera Hero. This was a complete comedy film and was new for the audience. After that, the stress was carried everywhere.”
