Pleased with developments, Pakhi can’t stop gushing about the star. “She is amazing. She is coming for the premiere. She is conducting a premiere in Sikkim on December 6 and that shows her professionalism. I am amazed to look at the way she works. If I had just got married, I would have disappeared for a month but she is back on track promoting her film.”

Priyanka’s wedding celebrations begin on November 30 and will continue till December 2. Five days later, on December 7, her Sikkimese film Pahuna: The Little Visitors will hit big screens.

The director informs, “She is extremely good as a producer and I think it comes from her mother Madhu Chopra. I have spent more time with Mrs Chopra. She is a mother, producer and we never felt left out when she was around. She is so involved with the project that you wouldn’t believe that she is also a mother planning her daughter’s wedding; she does both so well.”

Paakhi’s film is centred on three Nepali children, who get separated from their parents upon their escape to India, seeking refuge from the Maoists.

The confident director is happy to release the film in Nepali for now.

She says, “It will be dubbed later in 14 languages but for now we have decided the best way to release it is in Nepali. It’s a Sikkim film, so that’s how we will begin.”

She adds, “The film is about children and not for children. It went to film festivals and I was humbled by the reaction. It was awarded the best film and that encourages you as a director.”
