Farhan Akhtar will star in Zoya's Gullie Boys

The movie will see Ranveer in an interesting hip-hop avatar.

So far, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has played the lead role in all three directorial ventures of his sister Zoya’s. Zoya’s directorial debut, Luck By Chance, starred Farhan as a Bollywood struggler. Her next, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, featured Farhan and Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol as three buddies on a road trip.

“And very frankly, I can’t imagine not being in her film. And I’m sure she feels the same way,” Farhan had once mentioned in an unguarded moment.

And now, his words seem to be prophetic. Just when word was that Zoya was all set to direct a movie with Ranveer Singh, and not brother Farhan, the news has been qualified with a heartening rider.

“Farhan too has a role in Zoya’s new film Gullie Boys, though it’s not a lead one,” reveals a source close to the Akhtars. “Ranveer Singh played the lead in Zoya’s last movie, Dil Dhadakne Do. If you remember, Farhan had an extended guest appearance in the movie. He came into the film mid-way, in a very important role. His presence in Gullie Boys will be somewhat similar. Off-centre, and yet vital.”

With Farhan joining the cast, the film now has three star musicians in the lead. All the three actors in the movie — Ranveer, Farhan and Alia Bhatt — can both rap and sing.

For those who came in late, Gullie Boys is the story of street rappers, and Zoya is already pumped for the project. The movie will see Ranveer in an interesting hip-hop avatar.
