Varun Dhawan to play Dhyan Chand?

After Milkha Singh and Mary Kom, it is time for hockey legend Dhyan Chand to be immortalised onscreen. Only last year, Karan Johar announced a biopic on the sportsperson. Now, buzz is that Varun Dhawan, who previously turned down the film, is taking up on the offer.

If sources are to be believed, cricketer M S Dhoni might produce he film too. A source in the know says, “The cricketer has acquired rights of Dhyan Chand. He might produce the film too. It is still not clear whether Karan will be co-producing the film or not but Rohit Vaid is very much directing the film with Varun Dhawan.”

The film came with its share of troubles too. First, Varun Dhawan turned down the offer. Later, both Karan and Varun didn’t want Rohit to direct the film but they couldn’t cut him off since Rohit had the legal rights.

Karan wasn’t too happy with the script as well. Rohit later reworked the script. Rohit’s National Award win (his directorial Mahayodha Ram won the Best Animation Film this year) has reportedly caused a change of heart.
