The film will go on floors in August, with Anil shooting first, and Aishwarya will join him by month end.
Mumbai: The ‘Taal’ duo Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anil Kapoor will be seen together almost after 17 years in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and KriArj Entertainment's next production ‘Fanney Khan’. However, they won’t be playing each others love-interest in this film.
The actress who was last seen in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,’ is choosing her scripts very wisely, and therefore took a gap of almost nine months to zero down on a film.
Speaking to a tabloid, Prernaa Arora, co-producer of the movie revealed, "The team starts building the set in Mumbai next month and Anil will kick off shooting in the first week of August. Aishwarya joins him by the month-end and the film will wrap up in a start-to-finish schedule by October."
Also, when Prernaa was quizzed about Aishwarya's role, she asserted, "Ash was blown away by her glamorous and “highly stylised” character. We took the script to her two months ago and she immediately gave her nod."
Anil and Ash recently has their first reading.
“Their combined energy is unparallel. Almost all of Ash’s scenes are with Anil. Her character is the complete opposite of her serious turns in ‘Jazbaa’ and ‘Sarbjit.’ In our film she is the spunky, enchanting female protagonist," spilled Prernaa.
While Anil Kapoor is said to churning out multiple songs, Aishwarya, too, may debut as a singer and belt out her single. Prernaa concludes on a mysterious note, "Everyone will be surprised by Ash’s turn."
There were reports of Aishwarya coming on board for this film after Priyanka Chopra rejected the script. However, the makers of the film denied this news and said that Aishwarya had always been the first and the last choice for the film’s character.
‘Fanney Khan’ is the Hindi adaptation of the 2000 Dutch release ‘Everybody's Famous’ directed by Dominique Deruddere.
The Hindi adaptation will be helmed by debutant Atul Manjrekar and it is a story of a 17-year-old aspiring singer whose career takes off after her unemployed father, who also harbours the dreams of becoming a musician, decides to kidnap the top singer of the country. The original movie was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film catergory at the 73rd Academy Awards.
Aishwarya is currently on a vacation with hubby Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya, and Anil Kapoor is busy promoting his film ‘Mubarakan.’
