Comparisons are bound to be made: Ishaan Khatter
Ishaan Khatter, who was last seen in Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds, is busy promoting his upcoming film Dhadak. The young actor, who’s playing a solo hero in a big-budget commercial film for the first time, hopes that people will see the honesty and dedication in his work.
“It feels great to hear that people like the trailer and that they’re appreciating my work. I just hope that they watch the film and realise that it’s a sincere adaptation made with complete honesty,” Ishaan says.
Dhadak is an adaptation of the Marathi blockbuster hit Sairat, which starred newcomers Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. The film is based in Rajasthan and it also stars debutante Janhvi Kapoor.
Given that it’s an adaptation, comparisons with the original are inevitable, Ishaan believes.
“I have seen Sairat and it’s a beautiful film. Comparisons are bound to be made as this is an official adaptation; I understand that. I personally feel that Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, who played the lead roles in Sairat, are great actors. I haven’t met them yet, but I hope I get a chance to do so,” he says.
Dhadak is slated for a July 20 release.
