Fast & Furious delays Jabariya Jodi
Balaji Films and co-producer Shailesh R Singh took a last-minute decision on Sunday, to postpone the release of their film Jabariya Jodi, the rustic satire set in rural Bihar that features Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra.
Previously all set to be released on August 2 alongside the Sonakshi Sinha sex satire Khandaani Shafakhana, Jabariya Jodi will now come a week later on August 9.
While unofficial sources claim the change in schedule is intended to give Balaji-Shailesh R. Singh’s last release Judgemental Hai Kya more breathing space, the fact is that they wanted to avoid the Hollywood mega-release Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. The latest episode of the mammoth Fast & Furious franchise opens across India on August 2 in four languages.
“Univeral Pictures, who bring Fast & Furious to India, have decided to double their promotion and advertising. They are confident of their audience and they are going all-out. Rather than face such competition, Balaji and Shailesh took a joint decision to move ahead by week to August 9, when there is no other release,” informs a source in the know.
