Akshay-Rohit collaboration to feature Ajay Devgn

The actor-director duo have finally come together for a cop film, deemed to be different from the likes of Singham or Simmba.

It looks like Rohit Shetty is all set to aggrandize his khaki quotient significantly. After Ajay Devgn’s Singham and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba, it is Akshay Kumar as the honest and fearless cop in Rohit Shetty’s Suryavanshi. But what makes this collaboration even more exciting is the reported presence of Ajay Devgn in an extended guest appearance. If this is true, the duo would be seen together on screen after 25 years, they appeared together in Suhaag (1994).

Another interesting bit is that Suryavanshi’s cop isn’t likely to have any grey shade like Simmba.

“Akshay and Rohit Shetty wanted to work together for the longest time. They finally came up with the idea of cops action-thriller, a genre that Akshay has not explored for a very long time. He wanted to do a cop actioner with Rohit, but one that is completely different from the Singham series,” says the source.

Apparently, Suryavanshi is going to be an entirely different cops film.

“Akshay wants to explore the patriotic space, which he has patented, from the khaki point of view. He has played cops but not in recent years. He will be a cop who is free of the grey zone that Rohit’s Singham and Simmba franchise had occupied. Akshay’s cop-character Suryavanshi will be so righteous he will seem like an angel in khaki,” adds the source.

Incidentally, Salman Khan had starred in a film called Suryavanshi in 1992 which was a miserable flop. The Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sooryavansham in 1999 was also a flop.
