The Weeknd and Selena Gomez split

In a shocking development, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) have called it quits. An insider told People.com, “She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship. It’s been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy on them.” While Selena “always made an effort” to attend his shows when she could, the relationship is over for now.

“It’s been hard for them to come to the realisation that this is the direction things were heading, but it’s been hard for months,” says the insider, adding that Selena is not patching up with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.

Justin and Selena were spotted together at a church and later having breakfast the past week. While Selena and The Weeknd still follow each other on Instagram, the Starboy singer has unfollowed Selena’s close friends and family members.
