Belafonte hits back

It was reported that singer Mel B filed for divorce from Stephen Belafonte and requested a restraining order against him. The former Spice Girl had accused Belafonte of abusing her and threatening to release their sex tapes. EOnline.com reports that Belafonte’s lawyers have now released a statement and called Mel’s claims “outrageous and unfounded”.

“It’s a shame that she elected not to proceed in a respectful and amicable fashion in this private matter. When the Court determines the truth, it will become clear that this entire charade was nothing more than a smear campaign intended to cover up her own conduct during the marriage,” the statement read.

According to sources close to TheSun.co.uk, Belafonte was reportedly not happy with Mel’s flirtatious friendship with Cheryl during their appearance on The X Factor. He was outraged when Mel playfully grabbed Cheryl’s bottom. “He liked to be in total control of everything. He was deeply uncomfortable with Mel flirting with Cheryl because it didn’t involve him,” the source said.
