BAFTAs: Riz Ahmed mistaken for Dev Patel

A cringe-worthy tweet from fashion brand Burberry had Twitter users up in arms after label tweeted about actor Dev Patel’s win for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards — but using a photo of comedian Riz Ahmed instead.

The tweet read “Celebrating the #EEBAFTAs in London this evening, Best Actor in A Supporting Role winner Dev Patel wears a @Burberry custom-made navy tuxedo (sic)”, alongside a photo of Riz at the BAFTAs himself, according to Dailymail.co.uk.

After their error was pointed out by users — one of whom tweeted “Someone needs to be sacked at Burberry (sic)” — the brand deleted it and then tweeted two separate posts, one each about Dev and Riz.
