Rose McGowan arrested on drug charges
Actress and activist Rose McGowan turned herself in to authorities, on Tuesday, responding to a felony warrant on charges of drug possession, reports People.com. She was booked for felony possession of a controlled substance before being released on a $5,000 bond.
Her arrest came after an airport employee allegedly found the actress’ wallet with two bags of white powder inside, which police say later tested positive for cocaine, on a United flight arriving at the Washington Dulles International Airport earlier this year.
McGowan — who has accused Hollywood producer Weinstein of sexually assaulting her — claimed the warrant was part of a conspiracy to silence her. “Are they trying to silence me? There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia. What a load of HORSES— (sic),” she tweeted on October 30. She faces up to a year in prison if convicted.
