Mel B files for divorce

Former Spice Girl Mel B has filed for divorce from her husband Stephen Belafonte, with the singer filing the papers on Monday.

According to Dailymail.co.uk, Mel cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce, with the ten years of her marriage being a rocky one — Belafonte was accused of being violent and abusing Mel.

The report also says that Mel is asking for joint custody of their five-year-old daughter, with the singer being represented by family attorney, whose previous clients include Richie Sambora, Heather Locklear and Jon Cryer.
