Adolfo Lora, inveterate communicator and AV producer who undertakes on YouTube
To talk about new information and communication technologies, you should not leave aside the platforms that today allow those who want, create their own communication channels and disseminate all kinds of information.
YouTube is, if not, the social network that has allowed to transmit sound and audio in the digital era individually, without the need for a media group to administer or regulate it, allowing anyone who wants to dabble in audiovisual production, freedom to be able to create content and perform with it as a professional.
Such is the case of Adolfo Lora, who recently graduated from Broadcast Media with a concentration in Audiovisual Production from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), one of the most prestigious universities in the Dominican Republic and especially recognized for being the best in imparting the Communication career.
“I left the university without any knowledge of how to apply what I learned to obtain my own benefits, without having to resort to television, radio or cinema, having to work for others,” says Lora, while affirming that the thoughts of the Communication careers in universities should be reviewed and pursue changes in conjunction with new technologies.
It is well known that YouTube is an open platform and only those who touch it learn. According to Lora, “there are no manuals that tell you how to be a good youtuber. Success depends on the content and valuable content is generated when you start to meet your audience doing what you like. That makes them identify with you”.
Adolfo Lora is recognized in the Dominican Republic for being a youtuber specialized in “pranks” or street jokes. This initiative was applied in its contents thanks to the pioneer youtubers themselves, who, in different countries, made jokes in the street, recorded and posted them on their networks with the intention that the audience that saw them could enjoy entertainment and leisure.
“I love doing pranks, not only because I live them as such, but because my audience has loved the way they performed them. They always wait because the next one exceeds the previous one and this always encourages me a challenge”, says Lora, while, excited, tells how he loves to make jokes.
Lora also ventures into content such as social experiments. In these, Adolfo tries to bring a moral, teaching or learning in his audience, in order to raise awareness about an issue that concerns society, whether by stereotype, taboo or euphemism that is about it immersed in the mind of the citizens.
“Making social experiments and getting feedbacks that I have made my audience reflect on fills me as a professional. I feel that I discover my vocation as a human being at the moment I impact the thoughts of others”, says Lora, while sobbing he talks about how it feels to have included reflective themes in his YouTube content.”
In the same way, Lora has attended the suggestion of her followers and subscribers and has started recording “her life”. The youtuber says that his audience asked loudly to know what Adolfo Lora does in his daily life or when he has to travel around the world, when he is with his girlfriend, when he shares with his parents and siblings, when he went to university -in back then - and when he shares with his friends and his surroundings, including the “behind the scenes” moments of his recordings.
“Blogs are my mechanism to strengthen with my audience. Make them know the human Adolfo Lora and not the youtuber and digital celebrity. I both connect and have them identify with me, and this intensifies my reach in networks”, Adolfo Lora tells, making sure that “being a youtuber is being a celebrity, and becoming a celebrity is understood as ‘content in life’”.
Lora affirms that you automatically become a human being that captures the eyes of others, regardless of what you do as a profession or as a vocation, your life becomes information for the other. “Every celebrity should understand that they have long lost their faculty of having a ‘private life’. Private life doesn’t exist for us and it is something that I particularly did not have to assume, since I saw it coming”, according to Lora.
