Force 2 movie review: Impressive till the first half

Despite good performances from the leading cast, the film fails to hold interest in the second half.

Director: Abhinay Deo

Cast: John Abraham, Sonakshi Sinha, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Boman Irani, Adil Hussain

Director Abhinay Deo made ‘Force 2’ as a tribute to the unsung heroes of RAW. Force 2 is a film rich in detail but has its own share of flaws. In a violence-fuelled film, John Abraham has effortlessly managed to pull off action sequences. He flawlessly slips into the shoes of his character – Yash – a fearless cop.

Yash (John Abraham) is living with the memories of his dead wife Maya (Genelia D’souza and serving humanity with dedication. His life takes a U-turn when his childhood friend Harish (Freddy Daruwala), a RAW agent, gets killed in China on a secret assignment. Just before his brutal murder, he sends a book to Yash which leads him to the murderer who is operating from Budapest, Hungary. Ranjan (Narendra Jha), head of RAW appoints Kamaljeet Kaur (Sonakshi Sinha) to investigate the case and bring back a spy gone rogue to India alive. Yash joins KK on this secret mission.

Yash and KK manage to catch the spy Shiv Kumar (Tahir Raj Bhasin) but things change when someone kills Shiv at the airport. Who killed Shiv Kumar? Is he the real villain? For these answers, you have to watch ‘Force 2’.

However, despite good performances from the leading cast, the film fails to hold interest in the second half. The pace with which the story moves ahead and the revelation of the mystery fail to leave an impact. Yet the story which is penned by Jasmeet K Reen and Parveez Sheikh is so gripping that you are always telling yourself that there is still scope for the film to get better. Then there is the background music, which again hits on the right note. Action by Allan Amin is astounding especially the car chasing sequences on the busy streets of Budapest.

Exploring the world of RAW agents, Abhinay sets the story in Hungary and China with the spy running the show successfully.

Tahir Raj Bhasin stands out with his evil act till the last frame of the film. The film starts off so well till the interval but disappoints in the second half completely. John Abraham knows his way about action movies so well that he sails through the entire film flawlessly. Sonakshi Sinha, too, is noticeable in her stunts as a rigid RAW agent. Boman Irani, Adil Hussain and Narendra Jha are good as well in their cameos.

Genelia D’souza has a special appearance in the film and just lights up the screen even if just for a few seconds. Overall the film will appeal to those who love to see action and want to see John Abraham doing it. And yes, he is even bulkier this time around.
