Sachin Tendulkar makes singing debut
Sachin Tendulkar has made many records on the cricket field during his 24-year international career. The Master Blaster has other interests of course, which include driving luxury cars and cooking. He was also seen trying his hand at tabla with the legendary Zakir Hussain. But now, Tendulkar has made a debut of a new kind by crooning to a cricket song with famed singer Sonu Nigam.
The 43-year-old former Indian skipper also launched his digital app, 100MB on Thursday evening, which he called the ‘start of his second innings,’ something that’ll help him get closer to his fans.
Earlier, cricketers such as Brett Lee and Mark Butcher have shown their affinity for music.
Tendulkar admitted he is shy by nature and it took a lot of convincing by his wife, his friends, and business partners to get him to sing. “Although I am fond of music, but I never thought I will sing. They all ganged up and finally got me to sing. Sonu made me comfortable in the studio and told me to take the first strike. I have thanked all the cricketers with whom I have played in the six World Cups,” said Tendulkar.
“The love for music was always there. Music helped you control your emotions before going to bat, it helped you calm down after the innings,” he added.
“Master Blaster is blessed. He can achieve anything in any field. He was pitching right in the music as well,” Nigam said.
Tendulkar announced the song is to be played on Sunday at 10pm on his app. “I feel the digital platform will show a different side of me, it will be more engaging. Wait and watch there is a surprise for you! Earlier it was difficult to respond to letters from fans. But now this app is easy platform to respond to almost everything. I am open to advise and give tips to youngsters in real time that’s something I always love,” he smiled.
