Abir, Annika emerge best swimmers

GSC boy broke three meet records while GAF girl bagged three gold and two silver medals.

Abir Seth of Goregaon Sports Club (GSC) broke three meet records during his gold winning efforts to bag Sandeep Divgikar trophy for being adjudged  the best boy swimmer in the  GMAAA lower age group swimming meet at Khar Gymkhana on Sunday.

Annika Roy of Glenmark Aquatic Foundation (GAF) with three golds and two silvers was the recipient of best girl swimmer award.

Abir set new marks in the 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke and 25m freestyle events in the boys under-6 category. In the process, he bettered MCF’s Omkar Nehete 2005 timing in the backstroke and breaststroke events, while in freestyle event, he eclipsed Ronak Sawant’s 2012 record.

Annika bagged three golds in the 50m backstroke,  50m butterfly and 100m individual medley in the girls under-9 section. She also did well to win two silvers in the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke, narrowly pipped by Tiara Singh of Goregoan Sports Club at the post.
