Tune in: Melody matters
Playback singer Hrishikesh Chury shot to fame with his song Taang Uthake from the movie Housefull 3. The singer has come a long way from his recording and live show days. Currently he is a part of the jury in the show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs. We talk to Hrishikesh about his musical favourites in a quick chat.
One song you have on repeat on your iPod these days: Phir Bhi Tumko Chahunga from the film Half Girlfriend.
Three songs that best describe your life: The title song for Roja. It was the first song I sang in school. Everyone appreciated it, and that’s when I realised I could sing. I also like Kasme Vaade Pyaar Wafa from Upkaar. This song has won me many inter-collegiate competitions. I also like Kenny G’s Forever in Love since I connect with it all the time.
Is there a song you love to listen to when:
You’re happy and upbeat? Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams.
You’re working out? Any peppy fast number.
Any song that you loved as a kid or a teenager that you’re now embarrassed by when you think back: This definitely has to be Rukmini Rukmini from Roja. I used to sing this song as a kid and I didn't obviously understand what the song meant.
How would you describe your taste in music: I like all kinds of music as each one cannot be compared with the other. But amongst all, I like sufi, romantic, sad and soulful music.
Favourite time to listen to music: Whenever I get the time, I listen to music. But mostly when in the car, the music has to stay on.
One band/musician that you want t a private concert from: Bryan Adams. He is such an amazing artist; and I love all his songs. It will be a treat to have his private concert for me.
One live act you would love to see at least once in your life: Kenny G. His music is simply out of this world. I just forget everything when listening to him.
