Ekta Kapoor still looking for her Chandrakanta
Ever since Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Sinha locked horns over pursuing the same project — reviving the ‘90s hit television show Chandrakanta, a competition of sorts has been taking place between the two to outdo each other. While Ekta is still scouting for her Chandrakanta, Nikhil has zeroed in on his cast and is almost ready to shoot.
Kritika Kamra will be playing the coveted role of Chandrakanta in Nikhil Sinha’s show titled Prem ya Paheli — Chandrakanta. Joining her in the cast as the leading man and antagonist will be Gaurav Khanna and Abhishek Awasthi respectively. Gaurav will essay the character of Virendra Singh while Abhishek will play the evil Nizam in the show. With the show slated to go on air on March 4, Nikhil has clearly scored a point over Ekta who is yet to zero in on her cast.
If reports are to be believed, Nia Sharma is in talks with the telly czarina to play the title role of Chandrakanta in her show. Hina Khan of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame is also trying hard to bag the project. But sources in Balaji insist that it is likely the deal will go in Nia’s favour. The actress meanwhile didn’t deny she is in talks with the producer and maintained that it is routine for the actors to give look tests. The details related to Ekta’s project are being kept under wraps but we have learnt that actors Mrunal Jain, Rajbeer Singh and Dhruv Bhandari have given a look test to play the leading man on the show.
