If I were the Prime Minister for a day, I would

In the light of increasing crime against women, their security is of prime concern to me, says Karan Patel.

With great power comes great responsibility. And our telly stars understand this. When we asked them what change they would enforce if they were made the Prime Minister for the day on the occasion of Republic Day, the top priority was making the country safe for women. Here’s what they have to say.

Karan Patel: In the light of increasing crime against women, their security is of prime concern to me. So if I were to become the Prime Minister of this country for a day, I will make sure that security is prepped up for women in every nook and corner, and ensure that rapists are castrated. I think this will send a strong message to men who think they can get away with committing dastardly crimes.

Arjun Bijlani

Arjun Bijlani: If I became the Prime Minister, I would be keen on making India a green country. There should be gardens and parks for senior citizens and children. Trees are being chopped mercilessly and it is an alarming situation. Pollution is on rise and before we realise, we will perish. We need to work towards making the country green and clean.

Dalljiet Kaur

Dalljiet Kaur: I will resign on the same day because you can’t do much to help your country in just a day. However, if I was given little more time, I would change the laws to protect women. I would also pass a law to punish the perpetrator aggressively just so that they think a thousand times before committing a crime. My dream is to have a crime-free India.

Rashami Desai

Rashami Desai: If I get an opportunity to be the Prime Minister, I would enforce strict traffic rules. I am appalled to see how people break these rules every day and get away with it by paying bribes. I would also reduce the construction time of metro railways in all cities. So people have a safe and hassle-free experience. Women safety too is a huge concern for me. I will ensure there are strict laws so people who abuse women can’t go scot-free.

Ssharad Malhotraa

Ssharad Malhotraa: I would levy heavy fines on people throwing garbage in public spaces. I don’t think we should compromise on cleanliness. I would also want India to be a corrupt-free nation. In fact, this will be my main agenda as a Prime Minister.

Ssudeep Sahir

Ssudeep Sahir: I would enforce brutal and immediate punishment to sex offenders of any type including eveteasing. I would like every Indian to have access to electricity, education, homes and clean water. I will also ensure that no one sleeps without a roof or on an empty stomach if I am given powers of the Prime Minister for a day.
