Trends that will bear watching in 2016: For women, the crop top will remain predominant in 2016, followed closely by cutouts — it’s all about sexiness and glamour! Bling and sex appeal are the biggest trends for 2016; the other big trend is the use of shocking colours like blood red and hot pink.

From the international runways, we’ll see pastels transformed into strong statements with cutouts and silhouettes that are sexy. Desi fashion trends that might be reflected on the international fashion scene: Definitely the fact that Indian fashion is going more grunge and rock will reflect in global fashion, especially because Bohemia with a 60s and 70s sexy vibe is making a comeback.

What I’m most excited about in 2016 My venture in faux leather jackets, edgy futuristic PVC textured crop tops.

In terms of fashion, 2016 will be somewhat an extension of 2015 and in some ways contradictory. The ’70s and ’80s will be in vogue for men and women. We will also see a lot of colour variations — right from candy hues like pinks and blues to jewel tones, all along with perennial monochromes.

Art will be big and inspiration from the old masters, pop art and craft will be big. Frills and flounces from the Victorian era along with Flamenco influences will be apparent. Last year’s obsession with fringe and tassels will continue while the white shirt will be interpreted in different ways by designers.

The ‘paperbag waist’ — though a difficult trend — will find a place on the runway. Pleats will be very popular this year in all forms and culottes, ankle pants, capes will be popular as will be aqua-inspired fluid fashion. Heirloom will be a big trend and vintage fashion will rule the roost. Lace, suede, light weight denim, plaids, prints and ornate fabrics will trend for women in 2016.

Trends in men’s fashion in 2016:

In terms of colours, mid-night blue will be trendy, while for summer, prints and organic fabric like linen, cotton and silk are going to be in vogue.

From the international ramps, we’ll have lacy shirts, floral prints and silky fabrics. Also, the retro silhouette, blowing shirt and tapered trousers are fresh new iterations.

2015 saw a lot of vibrant colours and prints not only on shirts but also trousers, and that will continue to inspire global fashion trends. The return of pinstripes and glen plaid is welcomed with a blend of sportswear. Suits are paired up with track pants, and we can finally take comfort wear to the office!

I have just launched my own leather line, so I’m really excited about that. Apart from that, I am also working on my first fashion show that is going to be both Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter. Style icon to watch: Saif Ali Khan

The traditional trinity of men’s accessories — watches, wedding bands and cufflinks — are no longer a law. 2016 will see men’s fashion taking a turn towards statement pieces, mix-media bracelets, unusual gemstones, quirky brooches and more. Men’s bracelets using stacked expression (mixing different pieces or layering multiples of the same piece, from chunky to thin) shall be the “must try” for 2016.

Black will always rule the men’s fashion world, but do not hesitate to try dash of eccentric colours in your accessories.

For women, fashion always comes easy. In 2016, make a statement with generously sized earrings — be it bold studs or shoulder dusters. Find them in a bevy of styles ranging from bubblegum-hued pompoms, chain links, rain style chandeliers, geometric patterns, etc. Bold rings, brooches, neckpieces, etc shall aptly describe the femme fatale. Coral shall be the new pink this season, along with softer shades of turquoise, crème, sap green, etc. Pearls shall continue to rule in all possible sizes.

By the end of every year, everyone has an idea what the colour of the season is going to be. There was a strong wave of monochrome and blacks and whites. For the new year, we are looking at bright, vibrant colours — of which the most fascinating is orange. Orange is the new black! Its shades are going to go viral. So, this is one trend that is definitely going to penetrate the fashion and jewellery segments for both men and women. Also, the Boho fever has got on late this year but on a lot of platforms people are talking about bohemian trends. I feel it’s going to grow further in clothes as well as jewellery.
