Nail the new look
Chanel introduced to us the concept of nail rings via its post-apocalyptic fall couture show. Now it promises to be the must-have beauty accessory of the season. Yes, you heard it right, now you can accessorise your nails with a real gem and not just with nail art, sticker or glitter. The idea is to wear a delicate ring just above the knuckle. If you are having a hard time finding a ring that small just pick up one of your toe rings that you haven’t used in a while to rock the look.
Karl Lagerfeld’s versions are round like conventional rings and made of rhinestones and stacked on multiple fingers at the same time. And that’s not all. If you dare, you can even indulge in over-the-top nail rings like those seen on Beyoncé and Lady Gaga and don the ‘false nails’ rings that cover the entire surface. The advantage is that you don't have to spend the evening getting your nails done and obsess over the slightest defect, bubble or notch on your manicure. However, it is still advised to have your nails painted with the season’s hottest colours to nail the look.
If you like the trend but don’t want to splash the big bucks on the ‘real’ thing, some online shops and high-street brands are already stocking their own versions of the nail ring. Do not wear your grandma’s heirloom wedding band this way. The risk of jewellery loss seems pretty high here.
