With advanced techniques, facial hair transplants help men and women achieve the look of their choice

Facial hair has been considered a symbol of masculinity since time immemorial. Bushy beards and moustaches are commonly associated with the so-called ‘hipster’ look. Today, hair transplants have expanded beyond just a procedure to cover the scalp. New age men and women are using the same procedure to assist with obtaining the desired look of hair on other areas too, mainly the face.

Men and women who suffer from lack of facial hair often opt for moustache and eyebrow hair transplant procedures. These procedures help restore natural hair on the face which is either thin or missing in some cases. While this procedure is most commonly performed on the moustache area, it can also be performed on beards, sideburns and cheeks.

Employing the same techniques as those used in hair transplants for the scalp, a surgeon takes grafts of donor hair from a healthy location — typically the back of the scalp and transplants them to the face in the desired locations. These hair transplants are also used to cover facial scars. These procedures have picked up so rapidly, that you can still have a moustache, even if you cannot naturally grow it.

For women today, the trend for facial hair is also hot. They are increasingly opting for replacing or increasing the thickness of their eyebrows. Having fuller brows can bring an entire look together and help the women feel more comfortable and confident about their appearance. With improved techniques eyebrow, moustache and beard transplants have increased greatly.

In the past, we have been seeing patients wanting to have additional facial hair to cover up a scar or burn from a physical injury. Nowadays, more young men and women are requesting the procedure in order to achieve a certain look, which is a huge trend in India.
