Hydrotherapy, is a part of medicine and alternative medicine, which involves the use of water for purposes like pain relief and certain treatments. The term encompasses quite a broad range of approaches and therapeutic methods that are designed to take advantage of the physical properties of water, such as temperature and pressure, for therapeutic purposes, to stimulate blood circulation and treat the symptoms of certain diseases. Bath temperatures for hydrotherapy typically range from 92°F to 97°F, so as not to cause injury to patients.

Water therapy may be restricted to be used in physiotherapy, and as a cleansing agent. However, it is also used as a medium for delivery of heat and coldness to the body, which has long been the basis for its application.

Hydrotherapy involves a range of methods and techniques. Various therapies used in the present-day hydrotherapy employ water jets, underwater massage and mineral baths. The process involves submerging all or part of the body in water. The hydro machine has pre installed jets. These jets shoot water on the body in periodicals (specified time periods). The water is aimed to precisely hit the chakras of the body, eventually cleansing and opening the desired chakras. The various health and healing benefits of hydrotherapy include reduction of muscle tension and pain, rehabilitation of injured muscles, strengthening of the immune system, stimulating detoxification and stress relief to name a few.

In addition to hydrotherapy, sea salts are also used. Sea salts and Epsom salts, or magnesium sulfate, both commonly used in the beauty industry, contain minerals that can help enhance the health of the skin. The magnesium in Epsom salts can reduce inflammation, while sulfates flush out toxins. These salts help in exfoliation and invigorate, cleanse and regenerate the skin. Hence, it is usually recommended to have a hydrotherapy session along with bath salts to help maximise health benefits and rejuvenate the entire body.
