Of the many reasons to book a trip to Italy, the country’s vibrant wine scene ranks high on the list. In between sipping the bottled stuff, tourists can now visit the Abruzzo region to sample vino that flows straight from a public fountain.

As Condé Nast Traveler reports, the new attraction pumps local red wine 24 hours a day. It was installed by The Dora Sarchese vineyard in collaboration with the non-profit organisation that maintains the Cammino di San Tommaso, a pilgrimage route that connects Rome and Ortona. Anyone walking along the road can make a pit-stop to drink from the Fontana del Vino free of charge. A similar set-up dispenses wine along the Cammino de Santiago in Spain, but Italy’s fountain is the first in the country to offer free-flowing wine at all hours. While the installation is open for the public to enjoy, the Dora Sarchese vineyard states on Facebook that visitors should abstain from over-indulging.
