It’s that time of the year again! Comic Con has come to town and Mumbai’s pop culture aficionados are making the best of it

With colourful costumes and vigour in the air, Comic Con’s annual edition has kicked off in Mumbai in style. Whether it’s just adding a bright blue wig to an otherwise ordinary costume, or going all-out with costumes that look good enough to be original, comic book aficionados in the city are taking the event by storm. Among the crowd was a unique Superman family, with their two-year-old son, Yatharth, posing in his red-and-blue costume. The event is a culmination of painstaking effort for most of these cosplayers. Take for example Gaurav, who took one-and-a-half years to prepare his Spiderman costume, or Sharayu Kumtekar, who’s dressed up as the Mad Hatter. Sharayu’s intricate make-up includes painting her face a combination of white, with hints of purple and bright orange curls, peeping out from underneath a handmade cardboard hat. Not just cosplay, the event is also home to the several paper cut outs, digital art, prints and hand-painted posters, painstakingly created.
