Favourite performance: Shovana Narayan (Kathak)
Kathak dancer Shovana Narayan, an artiste who is in her sixties gave a reverberating performance at Saptak Fest Ahmedabad. The way she interspersed uncommon stories in her dance was something we have never seen in a kathak recital. She covered a vast range of subjects including love, sufism and story of Budhha’s wife, stories from Mahabharat and many more! Nirali Kartik is a musician
Aditya Narayan Favourite album: DDLJ No soundtrack defines or epitomises love during the 90s more than Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. I think it was one of the best albums composed by Jatin-Lalit and written by Anand Bakshi saab with Lataji and papa taking over the microphone for most of the album. Every song, be it Na Jaane Mere Dil Ko to Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna, Ruk Ja O Dil Deewane to Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana are made even more unforgettable with the magical SRK-Kajol pairing. Aditya Narayan is a musician
Sonali Raut Favourite film: Avengers I love the superheroes genre, especially the fantasy fiction film The Avengers. It’s amazing how they don’t run out of ideas. The special effects and research are so advanced — it takes you to a dream world where these superheroes are the reality. What I also like is that the characters aren’t black or white — each character has their reasons for being the way they are. I hope they have more films focussing on female superheroes. I am also looking forward to Batman Vs Superman movie where two superheroes are coming together. Sonali Raut is an actress
Preeti Shenoy Favourite book: Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom The one book I would recommend that every single person should read is Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom who also happens to be one of my favourite writers. I first heard about the book about 12 years ago. My father had recommended it to me a few months ago but I forgot about it. When I finished it I called him up and told him that there was this book, which he must read, and he laughed and reminded me that it was he who told me about the book. The book completely changed my perspective towards life, suffering and what we focus on. It is an eye-opener. Preeti Shenoy is an author
Ayushi Shah Favourite cuisine: Ethiopian cuisine One of the best meals I have ever had was in South Africa. My husband and I went to South Africa for our honeymoon and we tried Ethiopian food. It was such a new experience for us but also familiar in many ways. Ethiopians believe in sharing their food and eating their meals together. That was so amazing to us, because we as a culture are also very accustomed to sitting down and eating together. We loved the dosa-like Injera (a sour dough-risen flatbread with a unique, slightly spongy texture) and my husband absolutely adored the thick stew it was served with. It’s so important for everyone to step out of his or her comfort zones once in a while. I thoroughly enjoyed that meal and I think it’s an experience everyone should have at least once in his or her life. Ayushi Shah is a chef
Sagarika Ghatge Favourite TV show: Suits One TV show that is a must watch, according to me is Suits. The arguments, debates and the moments between Mike Ross and Harvey Spector keep you glued. The show is fast-paced and builds curiosity. Mike Ross and Harvey Spector are two people one should surely watch out for. More than anything else, the twists and turns are to watch out for.
