A Supernatural twist
The chief guest at the Comic Con this year is Jim Beaver, best known for his role as Bobby Singer in the TV Series Supernatural. The actor seems to be looking forward to the event. “I haven’t really seen much of India as yet, just the inside of my hotel room,” he laughs. “I’m looking forward to checking out how the Comic Con is like here,” he says.
Originally a writer and theatre actor, Jim says his acting career was a matter of “walking in through the right door at the right time. He’s also worked as a cab driver, amongst holding small-time jobs, but the actor says that his most interesting job was that of being a caregiver to a paraplegic woman. His play, Verdegris, which brought him into the spotlight as a playwright, was based on her. “In a way, you can say that my time with her is what finally led to the real start of my career,” he says.
As for Supernatural, Jim reveals that even while he plays a father figure to lead characters Dean and Sam, they’re more like friends who like to mess around. “It’s like working with your best friends. You have a whole lot of fun, but also get the work done. It’s absolutely nothing like a father-son kind of thing in reality,” he laughs.
