Stability Reigns Supreme
: “The concept and the expectations of a marriage have seen a wide change over the recent times. People are looking at various other factors which only proves that age is just a number. If you notice, these men have reached a stable phase in their professional and personal front. It’s also got to do with preference. I’ve observed women tend to like men who are settled. And that in most cases, comes with age,” states Bengaluru-based comedian and actor PD Sathish Chandra.
Prioritising Preferences
: Talking about how the concept is mostly centered on a long-term vision, Madhur Gujar, a consultant opines, “Most women want their partners to be financially secure, as finance does play a huge role in long-term relationships. This could be one of the key reasons behind this trend.”
Speaking from the men’s perspective, Mayank Modi, a designer and a part-time counseler opines how it’s also got to the with the innate need for men to be around someone who looks up to them. “Most men like getting married to younger women for two reasons — first, it’s because a younger woman will always look up to an older man for suggestions and second, it’s easier to mould a woman who’s a lot younger.” While he admits that the trend has been around for a while, he believes the likelihood of these marriages ending up as successful ones is very bleak. “While it may initially seem fun to be getting together with someone who’s grown up in a different era or has seen a lot more than you, ultimately you tend to grow out of it,” he says.
