Ziqitza Health Care Ltd (ZHL), one of India’s leading emergency medical service provider, operates over 1100 Janani Ambulance services across India to provide emergency health care services to pregnant women and new born babies. Janani Express are serviced under a common three-digit number “108” or “102” depending on the states. JananiExpress is a safe motherhood intervention under the National Rural Health Mission (NHM). It is being implemented with the objective of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among pregnant women.

The doctor’s team at Ziqitza have analaysed many studies that have shown that many newborn lives can be saved by the use of interventions that require simple technology. The majority of these interventions can be effectively provided by a single skilled birth attendant caring for the mother and the newborn. Care of all newborns includes immediate and thorough drying, skin to skin contact of the newborn with the mother, cord clamping and cutting after the first minutes after birth, early initiation of breastfeeding, and exclusive breastfeeding. Newborns who do not start breathing on their own by one minute after birth should receive positive pressure ventilation with room air by a self-inflating bag and mask.

“JSSK” is Janani ShishuSurkshKaryakram under which Janani Express (JE) vehicles are running and managed in India by Ziqitza Health care limited with the collaboration with National Health Mission Madhya Pradesh. The Janani vehicles take pregnant women and newborn/infant child to nearest government health facility for deliveries/treatment and also drop them back to their homes.

Ziqitza operated Janani Express (JE) vehicles are equipped with Oxygen cylinder along with supply Kit, First aid Kit, Delivery Kit and basic ambulance equipment like – Stretcher, Fire extinguisher, water camper, GPS system etc. These ambulances are customized for the safety of pregnant women and in case of last-minute delivery on board. To ensure medical safety the ambulance driver is trained extensively by team at Ziqitza Healthcare Limited in first aid to the patient, if required. Preferably, an attendant (Family Relative) and ASHA shall accompany the patient.

With help of JSSK –Janani expressZiqitza has served 80,15,840 pregnant women in a decade. Also, just to give an idea the service has also benefitted new borns and infant, sharing below in last month data from the state of Madhya Pradesh:

It is being executed with the aim of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among pregnant women.
