Aaron William Benjamin: UAE Pro cricketer transferring to Sri-Lanka

Aaron's colleagues say that he is very invested in his education and would never give that up under any circumstance

UAE's fast bowler Aaron William Benjamin, has represented the country in over 10 international fixtures, spanning over 3 years. The youngster now seems to have chosen to leave the UAE to pursue much greener pastures in Sri Lanka.

When asked about this decision, Aaron had this to say. "Though it would be much easier to break through to the UAE's ODI side, I feel it will not be the best use of my time. I'd like to give myself more of a challenge, rather than remaining the biggest fish in a small pond. I would rather like to see how I fair against more competitive players". He went on to mention, "Cricket has been an integral part of my life since the age of 8, so considering I've invested a lot into it, I want to risk my chances playing against the best opponents possible."

Aaron's colleagues say that he is very invested in his education and would never give that up under any circumstance, so we were interested to find out how he would play cricket in Sri Lanka, while being enrolled in Dubai. He told us that as the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in the UAE, his university prematurely closed in early March, therefore all of the classes were handled online.

Sticking with this trend, the rest of 2020/21's academic year has given them the option of studying fully online. He later said, "As a sort of blessing I'm disguise, I will be using this chance to come to Sri Lanka for a few months to play cricket while also still pursuing my undergraduate degree in Business & Finance at Middlesex University, Dubai (online). In a sort of academically risk-free move, the young fast bowler looks to move over to the Island paradise, for about 3 months to pursue a lifelong dream.

Nonetheless, he is the hottest young pacer in the MENA region, and the UAE will surely be at a great loss after his departure. However, Sri Lanka and their current lack of pure pacers at the moment, will surely salivate at the chance to add a fast left arm pacer to their circuit.
