Initial reports suggest that a bag full of firecrackers might have gone off, killing the person who was carrying it.

New Delhi:

One person was killed and five others injured in a low-intensity blast in Old Delhi’s Naya Bazaar, near Chandni Chowk market on Tuesday.

Official sources said the area is thick with firecracker factories. Initial reports suggest that a bag full of crackers might have gone off, killing the person who was carrying it.

However, there is no official confirmation of the cause behind the explosion.

Forensic teams and officers from the Special Cell are on the spot and collecting samples. More details are awaited.

Delhi Police personnel have been maintaining a tight vigil in view of the festive season.
