The CBI on Tuesday arrested two former Vyapam officials — principal system analyst Nitin Mohindra and assistant programmer Chandra Kant Mishra — as part of its investigation into the multi-crore recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh.

Sources said the duo have been arrested on the charges of their alleged role in tampering with the answersheets related to the Forest Guard Recruitment Test, conducted by Vyapam in 2013. The agency on November 4 conducted searches at five locations, including the premises of a Bhopal-based private medical college, as part of its investigation into the Vyapam scam.

The SC on July 9, 2015, transferred the probe of all cases related to the Vyapam scam to the CBI. Vyapam is a government body that conducts entrance tests in MP. It recruits for government jobs and admissions to educational institutes. The Vyapam scam is allegedly a well-orchestrated rigging of entrance exams to help undeserving candidates, who allegedly bribed politicians and officials through middlemen, to get high ranks in these entrance tests.
