Govt school headmistress beats up Class 4 children with cane, booked
Mangaluru: A case has been registered against the headmistress of a government school in Bantwal near Mangaluru for allegedly beating up class four children for not doing homework, police said on Sunday.
The accused, Sharada beat up all children in the class on June 29 for not completing their homework.
After one of the students came forward to lodge a complaint with the police, a case was registered at the Ullal police station on Saturday, they said.
Childline sources said the incident took place on June 29 when the teacher found that the children had not completed their homework and started beating them with a cane.
The child who filed the complaint, was so shattered by the incident that he did not enter his home after returning from school, they added.
When his father asked for the reason, the boy showed bruises all over his body following which the child was taken to a private hospital.
Later, parents of four more students also reported the cruel act of the teacher to the police and the complaints have been filed under corporal punishment.
Cases have been registered under sections of RTE Act 2009 and The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, police said.
