Uttarkashi: One of the two minor dalit girls, who were allegedly kidnapped from Paunti village in the district on February 20, was on Wednesday found at Jind in Haryana.

A team was sent to Jind on the basis of clues provided by a woman under interrogation in the case, SHO Santosh Kunwar said.

Darshan Lal's minor daughter was rescued from Jind and efforts are on to find the other girl, he said.

Police had lodged a case on Tuesday in connection with a suspected case of human trafficking in Paunti village of the district, in which two minor dalit girls went missing from the village.

The girls aged 15 and 16 years had gone missing on February 20 with their families alleging that they had been abducted by some people, who had visited their relatives in the village.

When the families of the dalit girls approached the police station, authorities did not lodge a written complaint assuring them of sorting out the matter through negotiations.

As the families remained clueless even a week after the incident, they approached higher authorities on Tuesday requesting speedy investigations into the case.

Uttarkashi SSP Dadan Pal intervened in the matter following which the case was registered. He said it was a case of suspected human trafficking.
