New Delhi: Upping the ante amid reports of increasing attempts by terrorists to infiltrate across the LoC into Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan on Thursday summoned Indian deputy high commissioner J.P. Singh to claim that the Indian Army was engaging in unprovoked firing at the LoC. Islamabad also accused New Delhi of “deliberate targeting civilians”. India has, however, consistently maintained that the Indian Army only retaliates to Pakistani firing.

In a statement, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said, “The director general (SA & SAARC), Dr Mohammad Faisal, summoned the Indian deputy high Commissioner, Mr J.P. Singh, and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces on 1 June, 2017 at 0715 hours.”
