Lucknow gets Metro, Uttar Pradesh CM dad's pat
Lucknow: UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday flagged out yet another of his dream projects — the Lucknow Metro.
The chief minister flagged off the trial run of the metro and SP MP Dimple Yadav handed over the keys to Prachi and Pratibha, the two women operators of the Metro.
In the first phase, Metro will run on about 8.5 km stretch from the Airport to Charbagh Railway station with five stations in-between.
The Metro conducted the successful trial run on the entire route. The chief minister travelled in the first run of the Metro. The Lucknow Metro would be open to general public from March 26, 2017.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the metro project would ease traffic congestion in the state capital and cater to the growing population in Lucknow. The Metro, he added, would also help reduce pollution to a considerable extent. He congratulated ‘Metro man’ Shreedharan and the Managing Director of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation, Kumar Keshav for efficient and quick completion of the project.
Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was also present on the occasion, lauded Mr Akhilesh Yadav for fulfilling the promises made to the people in a record time.
